Nothing Gold Can Stay

This is my autumn rendition of the park located in Franklin, Pennsylvania. I made the Egbert water fountain the focus and center of the activity. The Venango County courthouse is also featured in the background. I like to use a circular format to lead you around the painting. I met a couple nice folks walking their dog, Bubba, one day and they bring you into the image. There is a young couple on the park bench who met up after riding their bikes to the fountain. I tried to show the gentle breeze through the falling water from the fountain and the spray that spilled onto the walkway and then trickles away.  You are then led away from the fountain by the couple walking their young child towards Bodien's Hot Dog Stand found along Liberty Street. Some final details include a bushel of apples to represent Franklin's awesome Applefest, a vintage red pickup truck, the Galena Building and a 57 chevy. I chose Robert Frost's poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" because it I felt it was the perfect fit for this colorful autumn scene.  I have had many people question me as to what year this is to represent and my answer to that is whatever year that makes you smile.
